LANGUAGE ARTS
Language Arts is composed of several interrelated areas: reading, writing, spelling, listening and speaking.
At the Kindergarten level, the student is encouraged to learn to communicate clearly through development in these five areas.
The Immersion Approach is used in the teaching of writing to capitalize on the natural connection between reading and writing in the English language.
READING
READING
- Recognize and name all the uppercase and lowercase letters.
- Recognize and say the common sound of most letters and write a letter that goes with a spoken sound.
- Produce rhyming words and recognize pairs of rhyming words.
- Use their knowledge of letter sounds to figure out single-syllable words.
- Read high-frequency words that are recognized by “sight”.
- Begin to track print when listening to a familiar text or when re-reading their own writing.
- Read simple texts containing familiar letter-sound correspondences and high-frequency words.
- Retell a story in their own words or reenact it, getting the events in the correct order.
- Students reading skills are developed in order to be able to read on their own by mid-year.
MATHEMATICS
MATHEMATICS
The curriculum allows students to construct an understanding of basic mathematical concepts from their own experience, and includes the following:

- Practical routines to build arithmetic skills that are essential for building number sense, estimation skills and flexibility in a problem-rich environment.

- Important concepts or skills recur with variations throughout the curriculum, and concepts are introduced and revisited in a variety of formats providing considerable practice.

- The focus is to have students recognize that there are various ways to accomplish a task, and to use the best tools and strategies for solving problems.
- This is done by establishing a framework for dialogue about mathematics between the teachers and students.
Introduction to addition and subtraction, patterns.
SCIENCE
SCIENCE
The purpose of science is to provide students with balanced, (Life, Earth, Physical and Health) relevant, hands-on opportunities and experiences and experiences to better understand science and to promote scientific literacy. Kindergarten topics include:
- Life- Seeds to Plants.
- Earth- Ecology- Save the Earth, Seasons.
- Physical- Water Explorations.
- Physical- Magnets.
- Health- Marvelous Me.
- Senses.
- Planetarium-Intro To Sky Motion.
SOCIAL STUDIES
SOCIAL STUDIES
The purpose of science is to provide students with balanced, (Life, Earth, Physical and Health) relevant, hands-on opportunities and experiences and experiences to better understand science and to promote scientific literacy. Kindergarten topics include:

- Decision-making
- Families and Responsibilities
- Respect for culture, customs & symbols of our country
- Communities
- Symbols on a map
ARABIC
ARABIC
Students are immersed in the Arabic language class.
They learn Arabic alphabets, words, and sentences. Reading and writing are practiced.
Students will be able to read Ayat from the Quran, short stories in Arabic, and Arabic textbook that were being taught from.
QURAN
QURAN
1. Students start off by learning to read from Qaeda Nouraniyah.
2. Once completed, they memorize short Surah’s from Juzz ‘Amma’.
3. They also read Quranic stories from Juzz Amma.
Students might complete memorizing Juzz Amma depending on their ability.
ISLAMIC STUDIES
ISLAMIC STUDIES
KG students leam the basics of Islam in this course through:
- Hadeeths
- Duas
- Islamic occasions
- Islamic manners
- Quranic stories
PRAYER / SALAH
PRAYER / SALAH
1. Students start learning in class about daily prayers gradually during 1st Semester in the daily circle.
2. They start praying dhuhr salah at the beginning of 2nd Semester.
Students, while praying with other elementary students, learn details about dhuhr salah, also learn prayer expectations such as:
- Respect
- Sayings
- Duas
- Sajdah
- Ruku
